Frequently Asked Questions

What are the venue rates for UNC affiliate groups?
  • For UNC athletics and affiliate group pricing, please reach out to our office.
What are the rules for booking events during football season?
  • Outside of Athletics use, spaces within the Blue Zone are available on a first-request basis. Per department policy, no events may be scheduled for Wednesday-Sunday that UNC Football plays at home, the following Monday after a home game, and no events may be booked more than six months in advance.
Can we have an early set up?
  • Set up times depend on other bookings and availability of the venue. This is decided on a case-by-case basis. This does not affect pricing or fees.
Do you provide any services or do I need to find my own vendors?
  • We offer a variety of tables, chairs, and soft furniture. However, this furniture can be limited. It is recommended that layouts are discussed early so we can ensure we can accommodate your event. Final layouts are due 7 days prior to the event.
Are there any additional fees beyond the base facility rental?
  • Yes, a cleaning fee and staffing fee apply based on the number of attendees. This is stated in the contract.
Is there a required Caterer?
  • Field House Catering has the first right of refusal for catered events. No outside food or beverage is allowed in the Blue Zone. Arrangements for linens, catering, and refreshments must be coordinated through Field House. Once CAH has confirmed the date for your event you will be connected with Field House Staff. All menu selections must be finalized at least 14 days prior to the event (this includes food, alcohol, and rentals).
Do I need an appointment to view the space?
  • Yes, the Blue Zone is not available to the public. We are happy to schedule a tour for you to see the space and discuss the specifics of your event.
Does the facility rental come with parking?
  • CAH does not oversee parking lots located on the campus of the University of North Carolina. Assistance will be provided to reserve parking lots and spaces with UNC Parking and Transportation Services. However, CAH and event staff are not responsible for fees incurred for parking services (cost to reserve lot, cost of any tickets incurred during event, etc.).
Can I serve alcohol?
  • University/Athletic Events:
    • Alcohol is NOT permitted at events for undergraduate students.
    • If serving alcohol, must provide CAH with an approved Provost form in order to serve beer, wine, and/or liquor.
    • Time limits for alcohol service vary by event. Contact CAH staff for more information.
  • Private Events:
    • Private events that plan to serve alcohol must purchase and maintain a $1,000,000.00 liability insurance policy to fully protect the University of North Carolina and user from any and all claims of property damage and bodily injury that may arise from a usage of the facilities. Clients shall provide CAH with certificates evidencing the required coverage 30 days prior to the event.
    • If serving liquor in addition to beer and wine, must provide CAH with a Limited One-Time ABC Permit.
    • The time limit for alcohol service is 4 consecutive hours.
Can I decorate for my event?
  • It is the intent of this policy to protect the interior of the Blue Zone and to protect the client from incurring damage charges. CAH reserves the right to refuse any decoration that violates fire or safety codes, damages property, harms persons or is otherwise deemed inappropriate. All décor must be approved prior to setting up.
    • No items can be attached to the walls or hung from the ceiling. The use of tape, nails, staples, or tacks is strictly prohibited. Any damage to building surfaces will result in a damage fee and the offending items will be immediately removed.
    • Do not use anything in an aerosol can such as spray glue, spray glitter, spray snow, or spray paint.
